I am trying to learn gamedev on gamemaker in my spare time. I post progress updates and pixelart on my twitter @GeekdudeAndrew. Also sometimes I post pixel art or abstract photoshop wallpaper on www.deviantart.com/geekdude. I attend my local gamejam frequently #comogamejam and my unfinished prototypes end up here. I hope one day to finish a game to fully polished retail ready state but I am busy with my part time IT job and studying real world programming skills among other things. I have many game projects I work on infrequently.
My most ambitious project I haven't written an entry for because I don't have anything to a playable state yet. In it wizards and monsters are storming a midevil castle. They are up to something which is having the side effect of transporting people from many different parts of space and time into the castle. These people are lost and confused and most of them trapped. Each have specific abilities. You are tasked with overcoming many different types of obstacles and puzzles to get these people out of the sticky situations they find themselves in. They will in turn help you to free others and fight back against the magical horde until you find a portal to send them back to their appropriate time.
The idea is that by having a revolving party of multiple characters with different abilities I can add different playstyles and elements to different levels and expirement with merging them all while keeping an intact storyline with sub plots and an overarching story of defeating the horde.
Each set of levels that follows a set of characters could possibly stand on its own or be sold as a complete game.
It will be heavily inspired by chips challenge and Zelda.
